What Makes Us, Us
The future of Family Medicine is already here in Cedar Rapids!
One of just 14 designated p4 programs nationwide—and the only one in Iowa—the Cedar Rapids Family Medicine Residency continues to do what it has done since its inception in 1971: lead the way in the training of tomorrow’s family physicians.
Ours, for example, remains a community-based program, underscoring our commitment to the concept of the Patient-Centered Medical Home. And our medical home is now a community health center, a Federally Qualified Health Center, one which allows our residents to care for the needs of both rural and urban underserved populations. Moreover, we have long made technology a tool here, the better to optimize resident training and to maximize patient care.
In short, Iowa’s oldest Family Medicine residency is now Iowa’s most innovative Family Medicine residency. And with a new program director and new faculty, we now have an even stronger and renewed sense of purpose!
