Dr. Kurra was born and raised in India. She attended Andhra Medical College in Vishakhapatnam, India, where she completed her M.B.B.S. before moving to Canada. She lived in Canada for two years and is familiar with the Canadian health care system. After moving to the United States, she worked for some time as an observer in Rock Valley Women's Health Center in Rockford, Illinois, before joining the Cedar Rapids Family Medicine residency.

Dr. Kurra's interests are in women's health, health education, and preventative medicine.

She is married to Suman, and they have two daughters, Priyanka and Neha. She enjoys traveling to scenic places, writing poetry, music, and playing outdoors.
