Linn Community Care Faculty
Family Medicine Physician
Dr. Piper brings to his twin roles as Linn Community Care physician and CRMEF faculty a commitment to helping the underserved, underinsured and homeless populations of Cedar Rapids-a commitment further underscored by his participation in earthquake relief in Haiti in 2010.
Prior to joining LCC and CRMEF in 2009, Scott practiced for five years in rural Toledo, Iowa. During that time, too, he served on the Tama County Board of Health and was medical director of two local care centers. More recently, Dr. Piper was the medical director for the Cedar Rapids branch of Iowa Hospice, reflecting his longstanding interest in hospice and palliative medicine.
Scott earned his MD at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and also holds a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa. He completed residency in Family Medicine in Evansville, Indiana. He and his wife Dayna are the parents of five children. Scott enjoys computers and photography, but is, in his own words, "passionate about the Iowa Hawkeyes" and loves jazz.
