C-Section and Colonoscopy Training
All residents receive comprehensive education and ample experience in obstetrics, enough to ensure that all graduates will be able to confidently provide prenatal and obstetrical care to patients.
Also, beginning in 2010, residents will have the option to obtain training in performing C-sections. Training will be under the guidance of Yue Teng, MD, an alumnus of our program and now a faculty member, one who has also completed an OB fellowship.
In addition, throughout their three years of training, residents are regularly scheduled to spend time in nearby Vinton, Iowa, with Dr. Brian Meeker, a family physician who performs colonoscopies. There, under Dr. Meeker’s supervision, residents have the opportunity to learn how to do colonoscopies and, with additional training, to do them themselves.
